This year the Thomas's Foundation Readers' Cup committee successfully created a flexible and accessible competition. 126 pupils, from 14 different schools in the immediate neighbourhoods of Thomas’s London Day Schools took part.
The teams showed their in-depth knowledge of three set books that Thomas's Foundation provided, as well as answering general knowledge literacy questions.
The books:
Football School - Star Players by Alex Bellos and Ben Lyttleton
The Good Thieves by Katherine Rundell
Ever Dark by Abi Elphinstone
The Kahoot Quiz Format: There were four rounds of twenty questions completed in a single session. It was a timed quiz, but unlike the usual in-person competition, the questions were multiple choice with four suggested answers, one of which the team had to select.
The Prizes: All participants received a certificate and gift for their efforts.
The winners, Christchurch, Glenbrook, Sir John Lillie and Colville Primary, received a £100 book token to spend at Nomad Books and a special direct message of congratulations from one of the authors acknowledging their fantastic efforts. Each team member received a book. The winning teams were also presented with a cup which they can keep at their school until next year’s quiz.
Colville Primary converted their winning token into these wonderful books for their book corners:
