'How the bursary programme impacted my life' - Aaliyah Sharif in conversation with Ben Thomas

Updated: Jun 24

Thank you so much to those who joined us on 4 June 2024 to hear Aaliyah Sharif speak so eloquently about her educational journey, her time at Thomas’s Battersea and, the life changing impact of a bursary award and the ongoing opportunities it opens up.

Bursary awards are undoubtedly life changing. The positive impact extends beyond the individual child, rippling through the lives of their families, friends and communities. A more diverse school community benefits all. Please watch the recording of the conversation below.

Thomas’s Foundation is committed to widening access to Thomas’s schools through the growth of the bursary programme. Since 2006 we have supported over 50 bursaries and from September 2024 we will be supporting 16 bursary pupils. Our ambition is that by 2027/28 we will have 28 bursary pupils at Thomas’s.

We know bursaries can transform everyday lives. Every year we have many more deserving applications than we can honour. We know the difference it makes, we see the impact and this can become a reality for many more children with your support.

Please consider a donation and help us make a difference. To fund a child for one year, together with the additional costs that allow them to participate in all that a Thomas’s education has to offer is £25,000, and for a term £8000. Community is at the heart of everything we do and all support makes a difference, if 21 families make a gift of £100 per month they will fund a bursary for one year.

Thank you for your support.

Every child deserves an enriching education.
